“On My Mind”: educational program teaching mental health and social emotional learning
During the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, the “On My Mind” program was implemented in 23 schools across Georgia. Over 800 students completed the evidence-based socio-emotional literacy program, with more than 20 teachers participating in its delivery. The program was implemented by BBSA-Georgia in collaboration with the Czech National Institute of Public Mental Health, and was funded by the US State Department. TBC and Re Bank also contributed to the project.
The “On My Mind” program is a universal curriculum that teaches mental health literacy and social-emotional skills to 7th-8th grade students. The program consists of 20 lessons covering five main topics and is designed to equip students with important life skills. For detailed information, including international experience, teacher training, and resources, please visit the program’s website at www.chemigoneba.ge. The program was developed by international experts, and Simon Surguladze, a doctor-psychiatrist of the crisis service of King’s College London, played a crucial role in initiating the project in Georgia and piloting the program.
In the second semester of the 2021-2022 academic year, the “On My Mind” program was implemented in 20 schools located in both Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia.
